A coincidental opportunity leads to persistence in lifelong endeavors
Originated from the technical inheritance of Japanese ingenuity and a coincidental opportunity, we present along with the belief of lifelong endeavor to you the product of 18-years persistence, a healthy, true, naturally made, and green detergent. As if the care from mother which is true and simple, we wish to present health to the families and happiness to all of you.
A coincidental opportunity
Mr. Chi-Li Lo, the Founder and Chairperson of Sea Mild Biotech Co. Ltd. (“Sea Mild”), was previously an expert in conformal coating in electronic industry and have only little knowledge in detergents. However, fate is unpredictable. In a coincidental opportunity he happened to encounter with the multipurpose natural detergent produced by the Janpan campany. We all know the real differences between the natural detergents and petrochemical cleaners. Why don't we just keep using the efficient and less expensive petrochemical cleaners? The answer may be negative and shocking. As if in an experiment, the fish that freely swims in the tank gradually dies out when petrochemical cleaners are added whereas the fish remains active and lively in presence of natural detergents.
There are causes to the persistence of Japanese people's pursuit of environmental protection. After the WWII, Japan rebuilt rapidly and is known as the post-war economic miracles. However, following the fast growth of economics, severe environmental pollutions result. Among the infamous 8 major events of public pollutions in the human history, there are 4 in Japan (Itai disease, Minamata disease, 2nd Minamata disease, Yokkaichi asthma). People become alerted to issues of the environment and the government has legislated the Pollution Prevention Act, Marine Pollution Control Act, etc since the 1960s. Furthermore, Japan has passed a brand new Basic Environmental Law in 1993 as the establishment of a complete environmental legal system.
In such a background, a natural detergent product originated from Japan's unique ingenuity, technique, and spirits is resulted. With such a precious opportunity we started our cooperation with Hodai Ltd. in 1996 to manufacture these multi-purpose natural detergents and sell the same Japan. This detergent contains sea salts as the main ingredient without any other additional chemicals, intoxicants, florescent, bleach, or petrochemical substances. In addition to its harmless nature to the human body, due to that included natural sea salts, it can even purify and improve water quality. For its efficiency and health-improving property, it becomes widely popular with excellent sales figures in Japan. In 2001, to the concerns of long time for merchants shipping and of costs of tariff, Japanese decided to move back to Japan with their know-how and plants.
Heritage of Japanese Ingenuity and Techniques with Persistence of Lifelong Endeavor
In the age when environmental awareness is not popularly known or accepted and when each of the manufacturers is making products of refined petroleum, Chairperson Lo envisioned to the far-reaching future to endeavor in better and alternative products. At the moment when Hodai relocated back to Japan, Sea Mild acquired the heritage techniques and know-how of the Japan ingenuity . For a better future, Sea Mild decided to continue the persistence of lifelong endeavor.
You can imagine that it could be an extremely difficult decision to make 18 years ago!
The multi-purpose natural detergents which have been reported with profound sales figures in Japan were not so welcomed in Taiwan. To cope with such difficulty, we started from the beginning and studied Taiwanese consumer's preferred detergent usage and demands. We developed the originally multi-purpose but single product, based on Japanese ingenuity, to various kinds of green detergent product lines which would be more acceptable in Taiwan. Nevertheless, by doing so, the natural and food level products we provided and persisted would inevitably require higher manufacture costs that we hardly afford. We would need to sell more products to make even to our costs and meanwhile to invest more in research and development so to increase the usage rate of our products and to meet the consumers' needs. By providing honest, affordable, and healthy products and undergoing operation deficits throughout 8 years, Chairperson Lo still keeps his motto of that “green life is not able to achieve in only one step forward” and that “green products would only be meaningful when they are affordable to all consumers.” All the way up to date, he works diligently for the general public in such a difficult era.
Green is Powerful
For the past 18 years, we have been working so hard for environment protection and promoting green products. Even though we are not resourceful, as mentioned by manager Yun-Chun Lo once said that one of our clients has been refused to take our cards for 7 times but then finally accept and recognize us in the 8th attempt, we always want to work for meaningful business such as promotion of green products which is obviously a difficult job.
Currently, product class of detergents is opened for Green Mark application to the EPA in Taiwan. To have everyone better recognize us and our products, Sea Mild has acquired all the Green Marks available which is advancing all our competitors. We manufacture under the strictest standards. For introducing better detergents and thus health to the families, we have tendered and obtained several Taiwanese governments’ procurement contracts. We efforts will eventually be seen. In 2013, we were awarded the 3rd Taiwan Green Classics Award, the Award of Green Consumption Promotion Enterprise, etc. With our motto of loving the earth, no pollutions, and returning to the earth a piece of clear sea, we invite you to join us and use our product which does good to both the earth and the consumers.
